LGBTQ+ in Japan — Interview with Dr. Eriko Yoshida
Dr. Eriko Yoshida (she/her), 吉田絵理子先生, is a doctor at Kawasaki Kyodo Hospital in the Department of Internal Medicine. Dr. Yoshida’s sexuality is bisexual and her gender identity is non-binary, more commonly known as Xジェンダー (X-gender) in Japan. I had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Yoshida about her journey as an LGBTQ+ person in medicine and how her identity has shaped her career.

LGBTQ+ in Japan - Interview with Dr. Singh Ikebukuro
WISJ was fortunate to speak with Dr. Singh Ikebukuro (he/him), 池袋真先生, an obstetrician and gynecologist at Women’s Medical Clinic LUNA. He is certified by the Japanese Society of Gender Identity Disorder (GID 性同一性障害学会), making him one of the fewer than 40 doctors in Japan with that distinction.

Hamish Craig (he/him) is a gay postdoctoral researcher at RIKEN. Originally from Newcastle, Australia, he has been living in Japan for nearly three years. Hamish joined me via Zoom to discuss his research, his art, and his connections to the queer community in Tokyo.

WISJ x Le Wagon Tokyo Roast your Resume Event
On July 13th 2022, Women in Science Japan co-hosted a Roast your Résumé session with Le Wagon Tokyo coding bootcamp. The aim of the session was to get expert advice from recruiters on how to best construct a résumé or curriculum vitae (“CV”) to land an interview.
